The 8th of March will be a daily routine of resistance for a better life for all!
A new social center for the women of the local community in Kamza. Elton Debreshi is officially running for deputy in the District of Dibra, on 25th of April elections.
We are excited to inform the opening of the social center 8 Marsi in Kamza (Kodër-Kamëz), a new municipality in Tirana County. 8 Marsi is a large solidarity house opened by a group of girls and women, students and activists. They will offer for free to the women of the community:
Labour rights support for workers;
Legal, psychological counselling, information on civil rights and public health orientation;
Foreign language courses and other cultural activities
Why in Kamza? Kamza is a big city of people who through their daily work in textile factories, construction industry, etc. keep the economy of Tirana afloat. But in return, Kamza receives only poverty, violations of rights and discrimination. Women, young women and workers — whose contribution is irreplaceable — are the most oppressed part of this city.
But this 8th of March has another significant meaning in the name of resistance and organization
On the 8th of March 2021, The Central Election Commission (KQZ) formalized the independent candidacy of Elton Debreshi for the elections of the 25th of April. The organization and intensive work of the Bulqiza miners and the activists of Organizata Politike in the collection of signatures brought its first fruits.
On the 24th of February, we, the activists of Organizata Politike, together with representatives of the United Miners of Bulqiza Trade Union (SMBB) and many other supporters, deposited to the Central Election Commission the signatures collected for the independent candidacy of Elton Debreshi. In less than two months from now, the community of Dibra will take the first step towards the democratization and radical change of politics in the whole of Albania.
In 30 years of political pluralism, this is the first time in the history of our country that the initiative to enter parliament springs from below, starting as a particular cause — the legal recognition of the Status of the Miners — but where all the social dramas of the Albanian society interlock. Exploitation and job insecurity that generates corruption and strengthens party bureaucrats and local gangsters, migration as the only alternative for a dignified life, the oligarchy — whose foundation is a political system based upon the subjugation of those who work for a living.
The voice of Elton Debreshi in the Albanian parliament shall not be only the voice of the miner from Bulqiza, it shall not be only the voice of the representative of Dibra. It is the voice of the trade-unionist that speaks to the Albanian workers all around the country about the need to unionize and organize, it is the voice of each and every Albanian who has the courage to challenge the political parties and the oligarchs. Elton Debreshi is our collective challenge for a more democratic Albania!
